Charlie covering his ears
Two annoying girls moved into the apartment above me.
I'm forced to hear every dumb thing they say.
These are my letters to them.

“I can’t believe I’m 24 and I haven’t even had my test-marriage yet!” Calm down, your rehearsal soul mate is out there somewhere.

Weelll, 24 and never-been-wed is a pretty bad sign. why even bother after that point? (sense any sarcasm?)

  2. Alex says:

Test-marriage? Whatever happened to “as long as we both shall live”?
I know that a decent number of marriages in America end in divorce, but why get married if you don’t intend for it to last?

    Good God. These girls…

  3. Dharlene says:

I think you have to change the name of the blog to “Dear Spinsters Above Me” now.

  4. Sarah says:

This saddens me, not only because it’s incredibly stupid but I know other girls who think this way. This girl I know from high school was PLANNING on having at least two husbands. As in, she was going to marry one guy, but knew she would divorce him for another guy. How does that make any sense?

    • Kate says:

I agree. And since couples are supposed to be honest with each other, does she have to say to the guy when he’s down on one knee, “You know this isn’t gonna last, right?”

  5. Anonymous1412 says:

Ooooooohhhhhh dear. A test-marriage? …They probably have a club for that in Vegas.

  6. pottergirl94 says:

Glad to know they have their priorities straight

  7. Lani says:

    24?!?! I’m 22 and upset I haven’t found mine yet!!!! Haha. Smh

  8. Lena says:

    BIRTHDAY POST!

  9. Lucie says:

what in the world is a “test-marriage” ???

  10. Rebi says:

21 and never been kissed, and they want to get married, divorce, and then marry again. Do I sense a murder plot?

  11. pjano-man says:

where can I apply to be the rehearsal soulmate’s understudy?

  12. Alex says:

Are you offering your services, Charlie? ;)

  13. K.med says:

I guess that whole “til death do us part thing” is below them. Or perhaps a murder mystery? Or super old dude who she forces into signing away is his money to her? Oh, wait. That’s to brilliant for them.
And while 50% may end in divorce, it means the odds are in your favor that it’ll end in death. Hopefully after a long, loving marriage.

    • Alex says:

50% is actually not an accurate statistic, it’s actually something more like 30% (although it is really hard to calculate, especially given the different definitions of “marriage”), but I see, and agree with your point.

It’s true, I don’t think these two are smart enough to be plotting…

      • K.med says:

Yea, I know. I just get a little miffed with them. I’m a little old fashioned when it comes to marriage and how you should really love the guy and enjoy their company. Not wait until the perfect opportunity to dump him on his ass for the next guy.

      • Alex says:

K.med, I don’t think that’s old-fashioned. I think that’s a mature, and intelligent way to see marriage. The whole point of marrying someone is to make it last, that’s pretty much the point.

What bothers me is that people think things like gay marriages are ruining the definition of “marriage” and there are people like the GAC running around…

      • K.med says:

True that! There are 50+ species that practice same sex relations, only one has homophobia.

  14. Sara Matson says:

Reminds me of what I overheard my mother say at my sister’s wedding. She was talking about my sister’s brand new husband: “Not bad for a first husband.”

  15. UniqueART says:

What a grand example of how our societies idea of “give my children more than I grew up with” has left more things and less brains. O America how I love you.

  16. abbycadabby says:

    This just makes me sad.

  17. Susan says:

Wow, really, a test marriage? These girls never cease to amaze me. Also, birthday post!

  18. Hayley says:

Most of these posts make me laugh, but this one just genuinely depresses me. They can’t have had decent parents :[
